Known Issues
Software
The Allow Ack to SCADA Acknowledgement option does not function properly. You must use Allow Ack from SCADA or Allow Both
Accessing Driver Configuration window or clicking "Play" from the Tag Script builder while an alpha page is in progress causes a lock up.
Log to Printer option causes sluggish behavior if printer disconnected, powered down, or offline.
The edit box for Pager Formats doesn’t scroll (limited to 150chars)—therefore, it’s easy to fill it without actually reaching the character limit of the pager.
On-the-fly changes to an Operator’s Calling Prefs should be allowed. However, it has been reported that extensive schedule changes aren’t always detected. Restarting SCADAlarm will enable schedule changes.
Hardware
- SCADAlarm hardware isn’t compatible with multi-port I/O expander cards that share IRQs.
- 3com Internal modem volume adjustment (via S46 register) affects local annunciation volume and telephone line volume, unlike the external, which affects only local speaker volume.
Version 4.03 (May, 1999):
Bug Fixes
SCADAlarm now properly releases system resources when attempting to reinitialize DDE for a failed DDE Server. It is still strongly suggested that a "DDE Status" tag(s) (pg. 46 in the Users Manual) be configured that will call a network administrator on failure of the DDE to each DDE Server in your system. Also, failed nodes are not retried constantly anymore (now it’s every 5 seconds).
The Holiday Schedule feature now works properly. SCADAlarm would use the Control Schedule for the current weekday instead of the user programmed Holiday Schedule.
Pager Message Formats had a problem handling incompletely defined placeholders. A placeholder variable with an opening "[" followed by only 1 additional character would cause SCADAlarm to lock up. This has been fixed.
Enhancements
- Alphanumeric Paging logic is now more immune to differences between paging service providers. Receive buffer flushed after "ID=" found.
Version 4.02 (January, 1999):
Bug Fixes
Alarm/Tag point definition: edit boxes properly retain selections when selecting custom ON. VOX and OFF .VOX files.
Local Annunciation: if a higher priority alarm is detected by SCADAlarm, it will attempt to locally annunciate the alarm immediately, instead of waiting for the Local Annunciation Delay to expire. This has been fixed.
Record window "Done" button could be pressed prematurely, placing modem in indeterminate state. This has been fixed.
Enhancements
- Tag Report Scripts: Select-a-Report window now remembers last selected report. Previous versions would always show the report list with the first report highlighted.
- Tag Report Scripts: Select-an-Alarm-Tag window no longer displays tags that already have tag report scripts built for them.
- Acknowledge All window is larger, allowing users to see text on long tagnames and descriptions.
- Blind Dialing (‘N’) helps with acceptance of non-standard dialtones.
- On global system re-enable (by DDE, timeout, or operator pushbutton) ‘0’ is poked back to ALL disable tags.

Version 4.01 (September, 1998):
Bug Fixes
The Login PIN number entry window Cancel button works again.
SCADAlarm no longer allows exit without warning from telephone conversation if unacknowledged alarms are present in your group. Formerly, only the current target operator in a group was warned.
When updating the file formats from earlier versions of SCADAlarm, the conversion now succeeds even if some files (ALRMLIST.CAR, ALRMSCRP.CAR) don’t exist; however, OPERATOR.CAR must exist.
SCADAlarm now no longer speaks "This List is Empty", even though it isn’t empty. This would happen when alarms had delays specified, but "Immediate Alarms" were scheduled.
The failed-hardware detection now works if the suspicion sequence is triggered by an alarm. Before, it worked only if triggered by a routine test (every 10 minutes).
Enhancements
- Font size for the "Link Alarm to Script" window and several others has been decreased from 10-point to 8-point, for customers with only 640x480 display capability.
- In the DDE Server Popup, the Server Name and Topic Name fields are now 128 bytes long.
- From "Link Alarm to Script", you are now able to select existing .VOX files even if no hardware is available.
- The tag description may now be displayed in the logfile, along with tagname, by editing the SCADALRM.INI file in the windows root directory.
- There is now a descriptively named flag in SCADALRM.INI that allows user to disable the appearance .VOX files Audition request box.
