IndustrialSQL ServerÔ 8.0 SP3 Patch01 ReadMe

This ReadMe file describes the defects fixed in this patch and known issues.

Before installing this patch, it is strongly recommended that you exit all FactorySuite® programs, including executable (.exe) files and services.

Use the InSQL Console application to shut down and disable the IndustrialSQL Server before installing this patch. To do this:

1.      In the InSQL Console tree, expand a server group and then expand a server.

2.      Expand Management Console.

3.      Right-click on Status, point to All Tasks, and then click Shutdown (and disable) InSQL.

This patch only applies to the IndustrialSQL Server computer. You do not need to install this patch on remote IDAS or MDAS computers.

IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 SP3 Patch 01 has been tested with:

·          Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition

·          Windows XP Professional with SP1 and SP2

·          Windows 2000 Server with SP4

·          Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1

Note: NetDDE is not supported on Windows XP SP2 or Windows 2003 and later operating systems.

Microsoft Windows XP SP2 introduces several security technologies, including disabled NetDDE, an enhanced Windows firewall, and a reduced RPC attack surface. These enhancements affect the use of LogViewer and the NetDDE and SuiteLink protocols.

If IndustrialSQL Server must be run on Windows XP SP2, the patch installation will run an OS Configuration Utility. This utility opens specific ports that enable NetDDE and adds Wonderware SuiteLink and Wonderware LogViewer to the firewall exception list.

IndustrialSQL Server will not work properly on a Windows XP SP2 computer if you do not run the OS Configuration Utility during installation.

During the IndustrialSQL Server patch installation, you can select whether the installation runs the utility or not.
